Abstract		To estimate the prognostic value of cathepsins B, H, L, D and stefins A and B in head and neck carcinoma, their concentrations in cytosols of primary tumours and adjacent normal tissues of 45 patients were measured. The tumour concentrations of cathepsins differed significantly from those in normal tissue, but not the concentrations of stefins. patients'survival correlated with tumor concentrations of cathepsins B, H, L and stefins A and B: they proved to be of prognostic importance for the outcome of disease in our group of patients.
Summary		Z namenom oceniti napovedni pomen katepsinov B, H, L in D ter stefinov A in B pri karcinomu glave in vratu je bila pri 45 bolnikih izmerjena njihova koncentracija v citosolu tumorskega in citosolu sosednjega, zdravega tkiva. Tumorske koncentracije vseh preučevanih katepsinov so se statistično značilno razlikovale od koncentracij, izmerjenih v normalnem tkivu, kar pa ne velja tudi za stefine. S preživetjem bolnikov, so sovpadale tumorske koncentracije katepsinov B, H, L ter stefinov A in B: ti so se torej v naši skupini bolnikov izkazali kot kazalci, pomembni za napoved bolezni.
