Abstract		In Slovenia, 102 patients with malignant tumors of the nasal cavity paranasal sinuses were trated from 1985 to 1993 (maxilary sinus 50, ethmoid 29, nasal cavity 20 and of sphenoid sinus 3). Histologically, 76 tumors were carcinomas, 18 sarcomas and 8 melanomas. In diagnostics, anterior rhynoscopy was performed in all patients, endoscopy in 29 patients, X-ray paranasal sinuses in 52 patients, computer tomography in 52 and explorative surgery in 6 patients. Surgery, mostly followed by radio-and/or chemotherapy was perfomed in 52 patients, and 50 patients, were treated by radiotherapy in some cases bombined with chemotherapy. Overall projected survival rate at 9 years was 29 %. Patients trated with surgery had 44 % 9-year survival. Overall 9-year survival rate of non-surgical patients was 12 %. Patients with tumors of the nasal cavity survived in 62 %, patients with sphenoid tumours in 33 %, patients with ethmoid tumors in 21 % and patients with tumors of maxillary sinus in 20 % of cases. Patients with sarcomas survived 9 years in 44 %, patients with melanoma sin 27 %, and patients with carcinomas in 25 % of cases. For better treatment results, earlier detection is needed.
Summary		Med letoma 1985 in 1993 se je v Sloveniji zdravilo 50 bolnikov z malignimi tumorji votline zgornje čeljustnice, 29 bolnikov s tumorji sitke, 20 bolnikov s tumorji nosne votline ter 3 bolniki s tumorjem sfenoida, skupaj 102 bolnika. Histološko je bilo med temi tumorji 76 karcinomov, 18 sarkomov in 8 melanomov. Pri vseh je bila narejena rinoskopija, pri 29 bolnikih endkoskopija, pri 52 rentgensko slikanje obnosnih votlin, pri 74 računalniška tomografija in pri 6 bolnikih eksplorativna operacija. Operiranih in dodatno zdravljenih je bilo 52 bolnikov, 50 bolnikov pa leobsevanih v kombinaciji s kemoterapevtskim zdravljenjem ali brey njega. Celokupno 9-letno preživetje je bilo 29 %. Operirani bolniki so preživeli 9 let v 44 %, neoperirani pa v 12 %. Preživetje bolnikov z rakom v nosni votlini je bilo 62 %, v sfenoidu 33 %, v stiki 21 % in v čeljustni votlini 20 %. Preživeto je 44 % bolnikov s sarkomi, 27 % z melanomi in 25 % s karcinomi. Slabe rezultate avtorji pripisujejo prepoznemu odkrivanju malignih tumorjev.
