| Abstract | Since problems in the treatment of persons addicted to illicit drugs are very extensive, a need has appeared for setting up a more rational network of regional centres for the prevention of drug addiction and the treatment of persons addicted to illicit drugs in Slovenia. In 1995 five A centres were established: in Ljubljana, Kranj, Celje Maribor and Koper, and four B centres: in Logatec, Velenje, Murska Sobota and Nova Gorica. The A and B centres ditter above all in their competencies: in A centres, indications are made for the methadone maintenance programme and the control of its execution in the region. This, however, is only one ot the activities for the prevention and treatment of drug addiction. In order to be accepted into the methadone substitution programme, drug addicts must fulfil the requirements listed in the paper. | |
