Abstract     Acute hemorrhagic gastritis is a pathological process in gastric mucosa which can cause major or minor gastrointestinal bleedings. At the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Ljubljana we usually detect this entity as an incidental finding related to clinical as well as sanitary autopsies. It never represents the major cause of death. However, acute hemorrhagic gastritis commonly appears following major trauma, widespread burns, and hypothermia, but less frequently accompanies portal hypertension, acute alcohol abuse as well as different intoxications. In this article we present some interesting cases with acute hemorrhagic gastritis from our casuistic.
