Abstract     Aims. Our intention was to establish the correlation of histopathological and endoscopicasl gastric mucosal changes from patients with low (R3) intracellular mucoid of superficial epithelium and with severe (HP3) or without (HPO) Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection. Methods: In 1030 bioptic samples of gastric mucosa from successive patients (550 women and 480 men) histologicaly stained by the method of Krayberg and with prolonged Giemsa staining, we estimated mild (HP1), moderate (HP2) and severe (HP3) HP infection and the height (R3 low, R2 moderate and R1 normal) of perpendicularly sectioned intracellular mucoid of superficial epithelium. The endoscopical changes we registered from clinical protocols. Results: In the group of 108 patients with HP3/R3 there were 66 men (main age 53,8 years, SD 13,9) and 42 women (56,3 years, SD 16,3); in the group HPO/R3 128 patients, 75 women (59,2 years, SD 16,6) and 53 men (57,3 years, SD 12,3). Sex was statistically significant item between groups HP3 and HPO and regarding frequency of ulcus (hi-square<0,01). Conclusions: The distribution of histopathological and endoscopical scores was dependent of HP infection and the height of intracellular mucoid of superficial epithelium, but this was not dependent solely of HP infection. Therefore the height of intracellular superficial epithelial cells mucoid we consider to be a separate part of pathological report.
