Abstract     Backgraund. Tenosynovitis of the tibialis posterior tendon in athletes is an uncommon source of pain and disability. Often, the condition is misdiagnosed as a chronic medial ankle sprain or evenoverlooked. Swelling and pain along the posteromedial aspect of the ankle are the leading symptoms. Dysfunction, if overlooked results in progressive and irreversible valgus deformity of the ankle. Treatment protocols must be individualised based on the patients age, degree of the deformity, and activity level. Conclusions. In the paper three young athletes with tibialis posterior tenosynovitis in different phases of stage I of the disease, and their treatment is presented.
