Abstract		Author tries to explain the concept of quality in health sector by reviewing quality definitions in health care according to Steffe, Klayinga and ISO 9000 standards. Organizational scheme of the department for rehabilitaton of patients after the injury or disease of spinal cord is presented. Subjective author's evaluation of strenghts and weaknesses in the functioning of the department, and proposed solutions for some of the problems are described. Among the enumerated weaknesses the author difines more in detail the problem of unexploited working time, stimulative rewarding, prescribed orthopedic apliances and sport activities for disabled persons. In the conclusion the author tries to demonstrate some activities which could be introduced into department activities in order to improve the quality, as an attempt to approach the ISO 9000 standards requirements in the form of guidelines for ensuring working quality and instructions for work. The author, however, keeps his distance from professional decisions about the selection of individual treatment and rehabilitation procedure, which is still the omain of the appointed physician. Work instructions should primarily only remind of measures that should not be neglected or insufficiently performed in a certain phase of rehabilitation programme. All this gives the possibility for a simultaneous checking of achieved situation and also for the control of work quality.
