Abstract     The problematics, experienced by general practitioners and patients in remote places without pharmacies is described in the article. /n general, the practitioners provide the patients with necessary drugs in the frame of their out-patient units through drug depository, which they keep at nearer pharmacies. Status of drug depositories was not legally defined until the passing of the Law on Pharmaceutic Activity in 1992. The Law denominates these depositories as reference drug depositories (PZZ) but deals only with those which have been established officially after the passing of the mentioned law. That means only three such depositories in Slovenia and at least forty which do not come under this law. Drug depository is "not an issue of Health Centre", therefore the related time, work and problems are not considered as compulsory labour service and have no meaning at comparing different obligations of physicians. Various problematics concerning depository has to be solved by practitioner himself in the collaboration with the pharmacy and some issues are solved with the help of nurse or even patients themselves. Practitioner in a dislocated out-patient unit is in an essentially worse position as the one employed in a locality with pharmacy. Having the equal number of patients he is more burdenedu however, drug depository does have some advantages as well.
