Abstract     The total force of the heart is the product of the blood pressure and inner surface of the left ventricle (SLV). The SLV has been described and analyzed in physiological investigations and medical practice. Therefore a oninvasive method was developed by us for determining the SLV: the Simpson rule was applied been used to determine the volume of the left ventricle, it had never been used before to determine the SLV. The Simpson rule was taken into account and measurements were taken at five levels: at the base of the mitral valve, at the mitral cusps, at the papillary muscles, proximal to the apec, and at the apex. The surface area of the LV was determined in diastole and systole. A group of 10 sedentary (nonsport) men and a group of 10 exercise-trained men were used as examinees. The results with this method proved that it is a sensitive noninvasive method, because it shows a smaller SLV in the nonsport group, in systole and after physical effort. The results of the SLV can be further used to calculate and predict the shape of the heart in different conditions.
