Abstract     Invasive fungal infections in neutropenic patients are still great diagnostic and therapeutic difficulty. To found out how many invasive fungal complications we had, we performed a retrospective study in patients treated for acute lymphablastic leukemia and non-Hodgkin malignant lymphoma in Pediatric clinic in Ljubljana in years 1990-1995. We found proven fungal infection in 8 of 135 patients. In three of those, fungal infection was the cause of death. We consider apropriate nonspecific preventive measures to be the most important method in preventive of invasive fungal infections in neutropenic patients. Early empiric therapy with amphotericin B in neutropenic patient, who is still febrile after 7 days of broad spectral atibiotic therapy is important factor determinig the outcome of invasive fungal infection.
