Abstract     For 410 veterinarienas of Slovenia who graduated at the - present ime - foreign universities the identity data (surname, first name, place and data of birth), then the university and date of graduation and finally the districts of later professional activity have been collected. 290 graduated in Vienna. There were several groups of them: a) 20 physicians and (or) surgeons who studied additionally the veterinary science in the 1762-1870 period, because the medical officials of state, provinces and towns in the old Austria-Hungary were also responsible for the control of infectious diseases of domestic animals. After completion of a 3-yeat study program.b) 74 veterinarians graduated during 1850-1870 and c) 119 during 1872-1900. After a 4-year study program d) 63 veterinarians graduated during 1901-1918, but e) only 14 during 1919-1948. Many of the 45 Sloene students who started their studies in Vienna in the last years before or during the Great War were conscripted for the duration of the war and were not allowed to proceed their studies in Vienna after the war. They went to the faculties in Brno (Czechoslovakia) or Lvov (at the time in Poland). The period between the time of enrollment and the graduation for them lasted mostly between 7 and 11 years and they were between 27 and 30 yers old at the completion of their studies. 23 veterinarians of slovenia graduated in Italy (Bologna, Milano, Torino, Napoli) during the 1818-1945 period, one in Bern, Switzerland, in 1920, one in Berlin, Germany, in 1943, 22 in Belgrade, Serbia, 7 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 16 graduated veterinarians from Slovenia completed postraduate studies and achieved the doctor of science degree: 11 in Hannover and Giessen, Germany, two in Bern and Zuerich, Switzerland, three in Belgrade, Serbia.
