Abstract     Anton Hayne (b.1786 in Kranj, d.1853 in Vienna) was a professor of veterinary medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in Olomouc (1813), a provincial veterinary surgeon in Moravia (1820-1822) and a teacher at the Veterinary School in Vienna (1822-1852). Simon Strupi (b.1812 in Kranj, d.1880 in Prague) was a provincial veterinary surgeon for Corniola (1844-1855) and then professor of veterinary medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in Prague. Together with Bleiweis he grounded the School for Horseshoers and Veterinary Assistants in Ljubljana, where he also taught (1849-1855). Janez Bleiweis (b.1808 in Kranj, d.1881 in Ljubljana) was a professor of veterinary medicine at the Medical-Surgical Institute in Ljubljana (1842-1849), then he lectured at the School for Horseshoers and Veterinary Assistants, also headed by him (1849-1881); from 1856-1873 he held the post of a provincial veterinary surgeon in Carniola. Through his public activities he much surpassed the frame of veterinary profession.
