Abstract     Returning in 1841 to Ljubljana as a physician and veterinarian, as already a marked scientific name and also as a three-year corresponding member of Kmetijsko druŠtvo from Ljubljana. Bleiweis found himself in the environment almost completely deprived of national identity, with German language in all schools and offices and largely also in everyday conversation. On the contrary, in neighboring Croatia newspapers were edited in Croatian language yet since 1834, the introduction of Croatian language in sermons also started (1838), as well as in parliament (1843), university (1846) etc. So, no wonder that Bleiweis shortly after arriving to Ljubljana began to come closer to Croatia finding in it an antigermanic support and significant backing. On the other hand, Bleiweis's wishes, ideas and achievements were a stimulus for Croatia to get closer to Slovenia, so already in 1843 Zagrebian gospodarsko druŠtvo elected Bleiweis for its corresponding member. In the second half of November, 1849 Zagrebian papers Narodne novine printed detailed information on the foundation of Živinozdravilska in kovaška šola (veterinary and Blacksmith School) in Ljubljana as well as an invitation for enrolling into the school. In 1861 Strossmayer, a bishop from Djakovo, joined as a member the library of Ljubljana and sent it 1000 florins as a subsidy. Five years later, on 9th May, 1866 Bleiweis was accepted into the Yugoslav Academy of Arts and Sciences. He also became an honorary member of the Society of the Physicians of the Kingdom of Croatia, Slovenia and Dalmatia. In November, 1866 Bleiweis, Costa and Toman attended the celebration on the 300th anniversary of the death of Nikola Šubić Zrinski in Zagreb, and on l9th of November 1878 the most prominent figures of Croatina cultural and political life visited Bleiweis on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Regrettably, only three years later, on 29th November 1881 Janez Bleiweis passed away. (abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
