Abstract     Background. More than 80 years of investigation and management of patients with Wilson's disease, which is due to copper accumulation in various organs, has shown that there is frequently an unacceptable delay in establishig the correct diagnosis. Usually the diagnosis is made when signs and symptoms of the copper intoxication is fully developed and different organ systems are involved and full or partial restoration of organ function is difficult to achieve. In certain percentage mental disorders are the leading symptoms. Methods. The purpose of our article is to present two patients with Wilson's disease in whom ubiquitious mental disorders were the leading signs and symptoms. Conclusions. Diagnosis of the Wilson's disease is easy to make, when it is considered, the therapy is successful and for life. Two patients with Wilson's disease were described in whom the leading and variable signs and symptoms of the psychiatric disorders were fully developed, what is usually a characteristic in psychiatric diseases of an organic origin. The diagnosis of the Wilson's disease was made with the delay and treatment was not successful.
Summary     Izhodišča.
