Abstract     Background. The most useful pathohistological diagnosis for clinical hepatology comprises data about histological changes which outline prognosis depending on progression of liver lesions and focusing on the most adequate therapy. Their outstanding significance is in determining chronic liver diseases predominantly including viral hepatitis. In the suggested diagnostic protocol, such histological changes are gradually classified concerning the concepts of grading of activity and staging of the progression of injury combined with a quantitative evaluation. Conclusions. Pathohistological diagnosis formulated in such a protocol contributes to comparing the discovered characteristics of particular diseases in various populations, as well as to validate the results of pathohistological examinations obtained from different hospitals or pathologies.
Summary     Izhodišča. Patohistološka diagnoza v obliki takšnega protokola omogoča primerjanje med odkritimi spremembami izbranih bolezni v različnih skupinah zbolelih in vrednotenje rezultatov patohistološkega proučevanja z različnih bolnic oz. patologij.
