Abstract     In the literature, reports on clinical inestigations of cardiovascular function in patients with vertigo are rare and scarce. The objective of this study was therefore to determine the degree of imairment of cardiovascular reflexes in a group of vertiginous patients without history of tick bite or erythema migrans. In all patients cardiovascular responses were assessed by a combination of four tests, including the Valsalva manoeuvre, the deep breathing test, the handgrop test and the orthostatic test. Vestibular function was investigated by electronystagmographic testing. A comparison of cardiovascular reflexes in patients and healthy volunteers showed a significantly impaired sympathetic function in vertiginous subjects without history of tick bite, and dysfunction of sympathetic system in subjects with vertigo and proven Borrelia burgdorferi infection. However, no significant differences in electronystagmographic findings and cardiovascular responses were found between both groups of patients.
