Abstract     The renal biopsy tissue obtained from two patients, members of neohropathic families from endemic location, was analysed. Both of them were caught in the early phase of endemic (Balkan) nephropathy (EBN). In both of them only positive family history and intermittent low grade proteinuria have been found. We registered many different completely unspecific changes in the glomeruli, usually with different extent of severity: widening of the mesangium, rarely double contour of the glomerular basement membrane and glomerular obsolence. The most prominent findings were the changes in the interstitial tissue, the tubules and the blood vessels. interstitial edema around the glomeruli and the tubules was present in all specimens for light and electron microscopy. There were also the changes in the tubules: focal tubular atrophy, hyaline casts in the loops of Henle, thickening of the tubular basement membrane, etc. We found focal hyalinosis oresebted ub tge nedua abd intima of the arteries, as well as in the arteriolar wall in the renal biopsy tissue from both of tmeh. Our findings were in accordance with the data obtained from the literature.
