Abstract     On the base of results of Veterinary inspection of food of animal origin and other investigation we established the degree of contamination of meat and organs of cattle, pigs, poultry and game, fishes, eggs and milk with chlorinated hydrocarbons, PCB's, metals and nonmetals in the last eleven years. The contamination of food of animal origin in Slovenia with quotationed contaminats is not questionable. The individual contaminants, particulary metals and nonmetals, in some sorts of food on some areas of Slovenia are present in amounts higher than allowed. It is still to much Pb in meant of game, high content of Cd are present in the kidney of older cattle and pigs, in the intestines of game in the kidney of hens from Koroška, Celje and Zasavje. High contents of total Hg are present in fishes from river Indrijca.
