Abstract     If one rank communities with regard to comulative number of fox rabies, three communities share the top: Murska Sobota, Škofja Loka and Kamnik. The number of rabid foxes per community declines steadily, at the bottom being coastal communities Piran and Izola. However, the absolute numbers contain limited piece of message. In this study we tried to identify the communities, which have distinctively higher perseverance of fox rabies occurrence. 0.25 percentile is a relatively simple indicator of the perseverance. There is a distinct positive correlation between the number of rabid foxes and community size (r = 0.64 P<0.0001). Less distinct and opposite in sign is a correlation between the communal population density, as measured by house identification numbers, and the number of rabid foxes (r = -0.29P<0.029). Different ranking occur when fox rabies perservance per square kilometre is used as a key. Three groups of communities can be distinguished. The first group contains the communities where the perseverance, as measured by 0.25 percentiles, exceeds two standard deviations (0.0087) of the mean of all communities (0.0023). This communities are: Škofja Loka, Vrhnika, Ljubljana-Vič, Slovenske Konjice and Krško. There are six communities with the percentiles between one (0.0055) and two standard deviation above the Lendara, Ribnica, Ljubljana-Moste, Murska Sobota, Logatec, Ravne na Koroškem. The percentiles of the third group are below the one standard deviation value.
