Abstract     In some 10 000 years, from a wolf man created an unbelievably adaptable animal that can survive in very changable conditions. No animal species shows such extreme morphologic plasticity as the household dog. Despite this, the basic life processes and behavior remain constant in widely differing dogs. The chihuahua and the St.Bernard are recognizable as members of the same biologic species; the bitches have wqually long gestations and both are parasitized by the same endo and ecto parasites. The ability of the dog to completely adapt to man lies in the organization of the wolf pack, which in itself is not far from the hunting groups of our ancestors. Subordination is an important behavioral pattern that enables the peaceful inclusion of subordinate animals into the pack.
