Abstract     Seven growing Lipizzaner foals participated in a 12 month nutritionaly balanced trial. TRH stimulation test (0.4 mg i/v per animal) was performed every three months and its effect was determined by the assessment of plasma thyroxin (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) concentrations measured before and l, 3.5 and 4 hours after TRH administration. Plasma baseline values of T3 and T4 in foals at the age of 40-111 days were significantly higher (p<0.001 ) from the baseline values obtained in foals aged 136-207, 220-291 and 319-390 days, respectively. The highest T3 response was observed in the youngest foals at the age of 40-111 days. Plasma T4 concentration increased signifcantly 3.5 hours after TRH stimulation at the age of 40-111 days. Plasma T4 peak concentration differed significantly (p<0.05) between foals aged 40-111 days and those aged 319-390 days.The highest T4 response was also detected in the youngest foals at the age of 40-111 days. Results indicate the influence of age on T3 and T4 basal and response values in Lipizzaner foals.
