Abstract		The pathophysiologic bases of functional changes together with the procedure for establishing the functional impairment and the way of determination of physical disability in patients with COPD are presented. In future the determination of physical disability in patients should be a standard medical procedure in the management of patient with COPD. The procedure should be performed by pneumologist according to the recommendations based upon the clinic and lung function tests measured by standard methods and quality assurance control of medical examinations.
