Abstract     For the sampling of the airborne pollen seven-day volumetric Hirst type spore trap is used in Ljubljana. It is placed on the roof of Hydrometerological institute of Slovenia in Ljubljana in urban surrounding. The samples are prepared and the results are interpreted according to the standard method recommended by the International Association for Aerobiology. We are following up the most significant allergenic sorts of pollen due to the recommendation of Subcommittee for Aerobiology of ECACI, accepted in Madrid in 1995. Average daily pollen concentration of different kinds of plants in the atmosphere is expressed in terms of the number of pollen grains per cubic meter of air . In April the most frequent detected pollen kinds were: maple, birch, hornheam, ash, willow, poplar, spruce, oak, beech, plane and pollen of yew and cypress family. At the end of the month appeared pollen of grass, plantain and sorrel. We monitor the pollen concentration of different kinds of allergenic plants daily in 2-hours intervals. Daily forecast of pollen concentration is prepared and published on Radio Slovenia, TV text and home page of Hydrometerological Institute of Slovenia. Our data are also regulary included in the informations of European Pollen Information (EPI) on WWW.
