Abstract     Medical expertise is a wide but thoroughly defined notion which arises from the description and analysis of particular facts in the professional field which is not a legal field. An expert must understand his role as helping the decision-maker to make the right decision with his expert knowledge and experience. The court has a duty to criticially accept an expert's opinion and thus also assess the expert's professional work. The court records studied at the institute rarely expressed a professional criticsm of experts. We noted only three cases of direct criticism of an expert in the last few years.
