Abstract		The article deals with general practitioners' duties in forensic medicine as a minor portion of his task profile. Due to unique organization of emergency medical services in Slovenia general practitioner is the first medical professional who faces an accident patient. Further decisions on the investigation procedures depend very much on the severity score of the general practitioner. Barriers for more effective assessment of trauma patients and plan for quality improvement in this field are listed.
