Abstract		The 1994 Slovene criminal legislation classifies physical injuries in articles 133, 134 and 135 (minor, physical injuries, serious physical injuries, very serious physical injuries). A systematic overview and comparison of the above mentioned articles draws our attention to the legal terms which are however not medically qualified in detail, such as the temporary failure of an organ, temporary reduced ability to perform work, affected physical appearance, actual and potential threat to life, permanently and substantially affected health or ability to work. One also encounters the notions of important body parts and disfigurement. The article contains an attempt to medically define these legal qualifications and thus simplify and make the assessment of physical injuries more objective. "Working tasks" are clearly defined in the valid Law on Criminal Procedure in 5 points (detailed description of injury, opinion on the type and severity of an individual injury and their cumulative effect, the nature of injuries and special circumstances of the case, the usual effect of such injuries and their effect in the particular case, with what and how were the injuries inflicted). The author comments appropriately on the above mentioned requirements, and takes a stance on the alleged iatrogenous injuries in the appendix.
