Abstract     Resuscitation and trauma care in a child requires agressive airway management. Airway obstruction and respiratory insufficiency are the most common causes of paediatric cardia arrest. Outcome of the paediatric cardiac arrest is dismal at best, so preventing arrest would be the best approach. Prompt establishing of the airway, ventilation and oxygenation are life saving measures. Endotracheal intubation requires skills and equipment, not always present on the paediatric ward, at least in our country. Laryngeal mask airway is simple mean of providing the airway, ventilation and oxygenation. Its use is easy to learn and no special skills or equipment is needed. Based on the experience from anaesthesia and neonatal resuscitation, we feel that laryngeal mask airway would be a perfect temporary solution for the airway management in a child. Also, one should always remember that laryngeal mask airway is not an endotracheal tube, and that it should be replaced as soon as possible.
