| Abstract | In the last 25 years, dental caries in Slovenia declined among children and youth. The DMFT of 12-year-old children decreased from 8.15 in 1970 to 2.97 in 1995. This favourable trend is attributed mainly to the following measures: use of fluoridated dentifrices by more than 90% of children, distribution of fluoride tablets to children up to the age of 11, and brushing of teeth with an aminefluoride gel performed by all schoolchildren twice a month. | |
