Abstract     The number of elderly people in developed societies is increasing due to the contribution of numerous factors, the most important of them being the qualitative improvement of medical interventions and the basic preventive health measures. This is accompanied also by increasing share of elderly drivers - with all the diseases and problems caused by the old age. Driving means an important way of maintaining freedom and independence for an aged person. Owing to the increased possibility for a disability which limits movement and access to the public transport, the elderly without their own vehicles are handicapped and have a dimininished quality of life. Therefore the right of an individual to drive a motor-vehicle must be protected, if his/her abilities are adequate. Aged person is offended by the statement that he /she is slow and cautious. Car is to him/her still a status symbol. Aged person is slow to admit that he /she is sooner tired, that his/her vision and hearing are deteriorated and his/her reactions slower, sometimes even uncertain. Often the aged persons do not realize that they are not any more in commad of the vehicle. A small percentage accept this fact and self-critically join the pedestrians, who can nevertheless be still full of life joy. An old person should not be separated from others whether healthy or diseased just because of his/hers old age. We strive for such relations in the society that also the aged people could enjoy the fruits of their labour, therefore we try to make possible a safe and happy incorporation in all the forms of road traffic for this risk group, epsecially when in the role of motor-vehicle drivers. We try to enable as big a share of elderly drivers as possible to be in command of their vehicles up to the great age, to enjoy and to bring happiness to others who will not be threatened but enriched by their presence. Summary     Številni dejavniki, med katerimi je predvsem pomembno kvalitativno izboljšanje medicinskih storitev ter osnovnih preventivnih zdravstvenih ukrepov, so prispevali k naraščanju števila starejših ljudi v razvitih družbah (1, 2). Ravno zato z različnimi preventivnimi akcijami skušamo tej, tako prometno ogroženi skupini ljudi, omogočiti varno in srečno vključevanje v vse oblike cestnega prometa, še posebno v vlogi voznikov motornih vozil.
