Abstract     PSA (prostate specific antigen) is a serine protease, and has a molecular weight of 34.000 and has about 7% of carbohydrate in a molecule. In the serum of health individuals we find an average concentration of 1,15 micro g/L. Permanently high concentrations of serum PS are the result of malignancy of prostate. Determination of serum PSA has a prognostic value in diagnosing malignancy as well as in the therapy. Reference ranges of serum PS are from 0 to 4 micro g/L.
