Abstract		Transrectal ultrasonography is more and more important in diagnosis of prostate cancer. The basis of this investigation is a good knowledge of ultrasound anatomy of the prostate. In this way we can detect and puncture all suspicious hypoechogenic lesions. We can also do staging biopsy and measure the volume of prostate and cancer. Ultrasonography is further usefull in monitoring the response to treatment. We report on the review of prostate biopsies made in our outpatient department in last three years.
