Abstract     Surgical health workers are one of the most threatened groups for parenteral transmission of infection. The greatest risk still presents hepatitis B virus which is, regarding the number of infected persons in the population, the most important (1% of Slovenian population are HBsAg carriers with prevalence not higher than 3-5%) but it is necessary to mention the transmission possibility of other viruses, notably human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus. The occurrence of AIDS and transmission possibility of human immunodeficiency virus through puncture wounds are of greatest concern.
Summary     Zdravstveni delavci kirurške stroke so najbolj ogrožena skupina za parenteralni prenos okužbe.
