Abstract     The wall gecko (Tarantola mauritanica Linnaeus, 1758), the largest European gecko, is a well represented species in Italy and Croatia. marko Matevljić discovered it in Slvoenia for the first time on Juny 4, 1996, at Bernardin (Portorož) by the entrace of Grand Hotel Emona. Whether this new discovery is evidence that the species is autochthonous to the area or whether it was just incidental, remains moot. I only hope that a better knowledge of the wall gecko will stimulate further data collection on this and other species in our country.
