Abstract | Due to the warm dry weather at the begining of May the pollen concentrations of oak, hophornbeam, spruce and plain tree reached high scores. The plantain, sorrel, grass, pine and horse chestnut pollen started to appear at that time. The beech pollen was also present in the air. Frequent precipitation and rellativelly cold weather after May 5th resulted in low counts of all pollen types. They didn't arise before May 13th until weather strted to be warmer and sunny. Grass pollen is the most frequent cause ofhay fever in Slovenia. The highest average daily concentration was reached on May 31st: 65 pollen grains/m3 of the air and the maximal 2-hour concentration 120 pollen grains/m3 between 10 am and noon. The highest pollen counts of all pollen types were on May 14th. The average daily concentration 395 pollen grains/m3 and the maximal 2-hour concentration 924 pollen grains/m3 was reached between noon and 2 pm. The pollen counts of spruce and pine were high this year. Only pine pollen isimportant from alergological point of view. It contained weak allergen but it had high counts. | |
