Abstract     Background. Vulvovaginal candidosis (VVC) is one of the most common vaginitis during the female reproductive period. It occurs very often in pregnant women as well as in the patients with diabetes mellitus. Broad spectrum antibiotic treatment and oral contraception may also predispose to VVC. Tihgt-fitting and poorly ventilated clothes and use of different hygienic sprays also facilitate the development of VVC. Conclusions. Treatment of VVC consists oftopic and oral fungicides. At first the acute VVC can be treated by topic fungicides although the oral ones have better patient's compliance. A big problem is treatment of recurrent VVC. Sometims the intermittent prophylactic treatment is effective.
