Abstract		Specific - pathogen free chickens inoculated with the field strain of IBDV and with the so called mild - vaccinal strain of IBDV were examined in order to characterise the pathogenicity of the field isolate of IBDV. Field isolate of IBDV induced severe clinical disease in two days, the course of disease was shor with high morbidity and mortality. Besides very characteristic macroscopic lesions on bursaes, muscles, provetriculus and kidneys the study revealed distinct differences between both viruses also in microscopic changes on bursa and in non bursal haemopoetic organs. highly virulent field isolte induced very intensive lesions of a long durationin bursa which were seen in focal limphoid necroses, haemorrhages of the field isolate was also its abbility to induce severe thymic lesions accompanied with inflammatory reactions in the lung, spleen, ileocaecal tonsil and bone marrow, which was not the case when mild strain of IBDV was used as challenge virus. There were no difference in specific humoral response to IBDV between both tested viruses.
Summary		V raziskavi smo primerjali spremembe, ki jih pri SPF piščancih povzroči zelo virulentni izolat virusa gumborske bolezni, in spremembe, ki nastanejo po okužbi s t.i. blagim vakcinalnim sevom GBV. Značilno za obliko bolezni, ki jo povzroča zelo virulentni GBV, je kratka inkubacijska doba, hiter potek bolezni, visoka obolevnost in visoka smrtnost. Čeprav je bolezen mogoče diagnosticirati že na podlagi makroskopskih sprememb, ki jih virus povzroči na fabricijevi burzi, mišicah, žlezovniku, ledvicah in črevesju, je raziskava pokazala pomembne razlike tudi v mikroskopskih spremembah obeh primerjanih virusov. Poleg zelo intenzivnih in dolgotrajnih patohistoloških sprememb na burzi v obliki limfocitinih nekroz v foliklih, krvavitev v foliklih in okrog njih, cistične degeneracije foliklov, edema in atrofije burznih gub so za zelo virulentni GBV pagotnomonične tudi spremembe priželjca (žarišče nekroze limfocitov v skorji, atrofija skorje in edem sredice) in močne vnetne reakcije na pljučih, vranici, kostnem mozgu in bezgavkah vitega in slepega črevesa. Teh sprememb pri piščancih, okuženih z vakcinalnim GBV, nismo ugotovili. Raziskava je tudi pokazala, da v specifičnem humoralnem odgovoru na okužbo med obema primerjanima sevoma GBV ni razlik.
