Abstract     Acute Intestinal Infections (AII) represent major health problem of developing and developed world. There are two types of registration of AII in Slovenija. One is performed by official state health statistics, which registrates the amount and type of work made by health care institutions. The other source of data is ibligatory case report of an AII to epidemiological services. Though far from ideal, this type of registration of AII is much more transparent and represents bases for epidemiological action and survey of All. Between the years 1991 - 1996 fom 10634 - 16590 cases of All were reported per year. Compared with other infectious diseases which undergo obligatory reporting, all these years All took second place by numerosity following the group of Respiratory Diseases. In future it will be necessary still to improve obligatory registration of All. Proper microbiological and epidemiological investigations of etiological agents which cause All will take the most important role in achieving this goal.
