Abstract		During the period 1991-1995 we hospitalized 356 patients because of acute enterocolitis. We discover the aetiology in about 40% of patients. The most common isolate from faeces was Salmonella enteritidis. Sporadically we isolated Salmonella uganda, heidelberg and typhi murium, Shigella flexneri, Campylobacter jejuni, Clostridium difficile and Microsporidium spp.
