Abstract     The densities of aqueous solutions of polyethyleneglycol of different molecular masses were measured at 298 K in the concentration range from 0.1 to 0.3 gem 3. The densities were measured with a digital densimeter with an accuracy of 2-10-5 gem-3. A linear relationship betweendensity and concentration in the solutions investigated was found. As a consequence, the calculated apparent specific volumes are concentration independent in the concentration range studied. The apparent specific volumes of polyethyleneglycol show a nonlinear dependence on molecular mass and they decrease with increasing molecular mass of the solutes investigated. The theoretical value of the apparent specific volume at infinite dilution was calculated on the basis of literature values from the corresponding group volume contributions of polyethyleneglycol repeating units.
