Abstract | The article discusses the mountain gorillas (Gorilla gorilla beringei) which were discovered in 1902 by a German, Oscar von Beringe. They live in two small locations in mountain forests of East Africa. These largest of living primates are gentle, intelligent, and peaceful. They spend most of the time feeding and sleeping, with impressive family and social behavior. There are only about 600 animals left in the world: the mountaing gorilla is an endangered species driven to the edge of extinction by Man. | |
