Abstract		The article refers to diagnostic procedures as well as surgical treatment of terminal illness of the aural canal and middle ear. The most common cause of so called "end-stage-otitis" is chronic, recurrent, inflammatory disease of aural canal, with frequent extension to the middle ear. Neoplastic lesions of the aural canal and middle ear are also common inciting cause of secondary "end-stage-otitis". Diagnostic procedure, the final indication for surgical procedure, anesthesia with perioperative care, intraoperative as well as early and late postoperative complications and results are reviewed.
