Abstract     Authors present their results with bilioenterostomy (42 choledocho-duodeno and 10 choledochojejuno anastomosis) in 52 patients (16m, 36f, average age 74 years, range 37-90 years) with benign outflow disturbances (28 bile duct stones, 15 chronic pancreatitis, 5 stenosis of the papilla, 5 juxtapapillary diverticulum, 1 cystic bile duct dilatation, 1 cystic bile duct dilatation, 1 iatrogenic duct dilatation). In 39 patients cholecystectomy has been done as well and 13 patients have had their cholecystectomy done before. Liver functions tests were done pre- and post-operatively as well as in the follow up. Jaundice disapered 5-18 days post surgery. There were 2 minor complications (7.3%) and one fatal outcome. We conclude that the surgical derivation of bile in older patients and in above mantioned indications is afe, short and efficient method with acceptable morbidity and mortality. No patient was rehospitalised for jaundice in the follow-up period.
