Abstract     Men, who received neuroleptic therapy often complain about sexual dysfunctions. In this work sexual functions and dysfunctions are presented both in males who received long term neuroleptic treatment and in healthy males without any pharmacological treatment. We assessed sexual functions in masturbation and sexual intercourse in the group of 59 patients before and during long term neuroleptic treatment and in the group of 25 healthy men without any pharmacotherapy. Patients received fluphenazin, haloperidol or zuclopenthixol decanoate and no other medication. Both group of men answered two, for the purpose of this survey adjusted questioners. They formed their answers with the use of semantic diferencial. MMPI was used to assess the validity of answers. Data have been calculated with parametrical (mean, standard deviation) and nonparametrical (Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann Whitney test) statistical techniques, and with multivariation analyses - factorial analysis. Before treatment patients experienced most sexual dysfunctions in connection with masturbation; the frequency of masturbation diminished. Sexual intercourse revealed nonhomogeneus problems. Problems with maintaining erection diminished during the treatment as compared to the controls. Orgasms without ejaculation were less frequent betore and during treatment than in the control group and there were also more problems with attaining erection. Premature ejaculation was more common during treatment. Patients with steady partners had less problems in attaining erection then those with occasional partners or without them. The frequency of sexual fantasies and desires was diminished during treatment and patients were less content with their sexual life. We could not prove the influence neither of the neuroleptic type not of the neuroleptic dosage on sexual functions. (Abstracts truncated at 2000 characters)
