Abstract | Quantitative immunohistochemistry of cancer proliferation and differentiation markers in clinical oncology asks for full automation of the image analysis procedures employed. Sophisticated algorithms must be elaborated due to the complexity of images to analyze and to the heterogeneity of cancer tissue. Mathematical morphology is able to offer valuable solutions at each step of the analysis: automatic axquisition of informative images, automatic segmentation of objects to be measured (cancer cellnuclei) and automatic topological analysis of immunolabeling. | |
