Abstract		It is necessary for physicians who deal with patients traveling to the tropics to be familiar with the potential diseases to which such patients might be exposed. Advice on immunisations, malaria prophylaxis, prevention and self-treatment of traveler's diarrhea and other preventive measures must be given before travel. In addition, on the traveler's return from the tropics, there must be awareness and recognition of potential problems resulting from travel.
Summary		Zdravniki, ki svetujejo popotnikom pred odhodom v tropske kraje, morajo poznati bolezni, ki so jim osebe na potovanju lahko izpostavljene. Pred odhodom moramo popotnikom svetovati glede cepljenj, zaščite proti malariji, preprečevanja in zdravljenja potovalne driske ter glede drugih preventivnih ukrepov. Po vrnitvi iz tropskih krajev je ob morebitnih zdravstvenih težavah treba upoštevati možnost tropske bolezni.
