Abstract     About 30% of adult people are obese. obesity can be trated like a food dependence illness. In fact, the dependence illnesses are different ways of reaction on distresses. That means the dependence illnesses are way of life, a life style. Individual work or classical supportive psycotherapy with the obese persons doesn't give us good long-term results. By analogy with Alcoholics Anonymous and clubs of treated alcoholics, sociotherapeutic group therapy with the obese persons can give us good results. The program of such group should include: 1) informations about obesity and its consequences; 2) activities to strengthen the will; 3) learning how to react harmlessly on distresses; 4) enriching inner psychical life. Results after almost one year work with three such groups are satisfying. It is not very important which hypocaloric diet we choose, but physical activity is very important for successful weight redution. it rduces bad feelings that are usual at the beginning of such treatment. A physical activity is also a good way for relaxing. Two factors are most important to maintain the normal weight. The first is the satisfying family life. The second is the healthy way of life with daily physical activity and at least one hobby.
