Abstract     The article present some principles governing physicians, use of spoken and written language. There are differences between professional and non-professional, general communication. Especially professional medical discourse abounds in Latin, Greek and Greek-Latin terms in citation forms. However, today they are increasingly used in a Slovenicized form, i.e. in the so-called phonetic orthrophic rendering and with characteristic Slovenian endings. Terms borrowed from other contemporary languages are sometimes adopted in a "phonetic" form, and others are replaced by corresponding Slovenian transplations. Established and frequently used Slovenian terms are not corrected for any puristic or rationalistic reasons. Orthography of eponyms should in principle preserve the original spelling of a personal or geographic name. International abbreviations are not Slovenicized.
