Abstract     On April 23rd 1993, an adult Lesser Yellowlegs Tringa flavipes in winter plumage was observed in one of the drained Rače ponds. The determination of the species was made easier due to a group of Shanks and Sandpipers (Common, Green and Wood Sandpipers, and Common Green-, Common Red- and Spotted Redshanks), which were at that time feeding on the muddy bottom of the pond. The Yellowlegs was also watched while taking off. The very first observation of this North American wader in Slovenia was confirmed by the national Rarities Committee, even though no photograph serving as a piece of evidence was produced.
