Abstract		Atherosclerosis is a systemic disorder that affects several blood vessels in different organs simultaneously. Involvement of the carotid, coronary and peripheral limb arteries commonly occurs together. Therefore, symptoms in one of these regions imply a need for the investigation of the other territories before surgical treatment with minimal risk for the patient can be planned. An operation scheduled in time can prevent or postpone serious complications like myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular infarction, gangrene or death.
Summary		Ateroskleroza je proces, ki lahko istočasno prizadane številne arterije v različnih organih. Ker so kombinacije sprememb karotidnih, koronarnih in perifernih arterij okončin pogoste, moramo pri znakih na enem iskati tudi spremembe na drugih področjih, da se odločimo za pravilno strategijo zdravljenja z najmanjšim tveganjem. Pravočasno kirurško zdravljenje lahko prepreči oziroma odloži hude zaplete, kot so srčni infarkt, možganska kap, gangrena in smrt.
