Abstract     Clinical and polygraphic characteristics of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in children were established on the analysis of 42 personal cases. Our cohort of patients comprises: eleven idiopathic and seven symptomatic narcolepsies. In seven cases the EDS was associated with a neurulogical cause. Two children had a periodic Limb Movement disorder. In 15 cases the etiology of the EDS was of unknown origin. This study allows us to insist on the importance of undetermined causes at the time of the first screening and on the importance of EDS symptomatic of a neurological cause, since in one case out of three the EDS was associated with a neurological problem.
